Ahhhh…my beautiful country! Wish I could be there to celebrate, but here’s my little tribute on her big Day instead!

Happy Birthday, Canada. I miss you! ❤

In recognition of this wonderful day:

So the funniest part about these guys is they came over to NYC from New Zealand hoping to make it big as a rock band and failed miserably!! So they settled for a comedy band…I’d say they picked the right niche! 🙂

Hungry, Hungry Hippo!

December 19, 2007

This has got to be my most favoritest christmas carol EVER!! I giggle at the lyrics every time I hear it and if you can listen to this song and not start to even at least tap your foot, you are cold and heartless! But before you listen to it, enjoy a little history first…

According to Wiki:

Gayla Peevey (born 1943) is perhaps best known for her song, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas (Columbia, 1953). A child star from Oklahoma City, she was 10 years old when she recorded the novelty song written by John Rox in 1950.

The Oklahoma City Zoo capitalized upon the popularity of the song in 1953 through a fundraising campaign to “buy a hippo for Gayla” in order to bring a hippo to the zoo. (They had no hippopotamus at the time.) The song raised $3,000. A baby hippo, named Matilda, was procured and flown in to Oklahoma City and presented by Peevey to the zoo.

(Regina would like that) 🙂

So there ya go…now, have a listen and wiggle and giggle away!! (or don’t…) 😉

“Who Knew”

November 4, 2007

You took my hand
You showed me how
You promised me you’d be around
Uh huh
That’s right
I took your words
And I believed
In everything
You said to me
Yeah huh
That’s right

If someone said three years from now
You’d be long gone
I’d stand up and punch them out
Cause they’re all wrong
I know better
Cause you said forever
And ever
Who knew

Remember when we were such fools
And so convinced and just too cool
Oh no
No no
I wish I could touch you again
I wish I could still call you friend
I’d give anything

When someone said count your blessings now
‘fore they’re long gone
I guess I just didn’t know how
I was all wrong
They knew better
Still you said forever
And ever
Who knew

Yeah yeah
I’ll keep you locked in my head
Until we meet again
Until we
Until we meet again
And I won’t forget you my friend
What happened

If someone said three years from now
You’d be long gone
I’d stand up and punch them out
Cause they’re all wrong and
That last kiss
I’ll cherish
Until we meet again
And time makes
It harder
I wish I could remember
But I keep
Your memory
You visit me in my sleep
My darling
Who knew

Rest in Peace Pavarotti

September 6, 2007

luciano-pavarotti.jpgAt 5 am this morning surrounded by family, Luciano Pavarotti, world renowned tenor passed away after a year’s battle with pancratic cancer. He will be missed, but his legend will be remember for centuries to come.

The smell of your skin lingers on me now
You’re probably on your flight back to your home town
I need some shelter of my own protection baby
To be with myself and center, clarity
Peace, Serenity

I hope you know, I hope you know
That this has nothing to do with you
It’s personal, myself and I
We’ve got some straightenin’ out to do
And I’m gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket
But I’ve got to get a move on with my life
It’s time to be a big girl now
And big girls don’t cry
Don’t cry
Don’t cry
Don’t cry

The path that I’m walking
I must go alone
I must take the baby steps ’til I’m full grown, full grown
Fairytales don’t always have a happy ending, do they?
And I foresee the dark ahead if I stay

Like the little school mate in the school yard
We’ll play jacks and uno cards
I’ll be your best friend and you’ll be mine Valentine
Yes you can hold my hand if you want to
‘Cause I want to hold yours too
We’ll be playmates and lovers and share our secret worlds
But it’s time for me to go home
It’s getting late, dark outside
I need to be with myself and center, clarity
Peace, Serenity

Reality Check

April 8, 2007

Don’t know if any of you are Linkin Park fan’s (I’m a bit of a die hard myself).  They just released this new song. It’s not very “LP” but wow, does it ever hit home. Makes you feel a little dumb about the things we complain about…our bodies, where we live, our weather, WHATEVER…let’s remember…it could be so much worse.  Worse??? That’s assuming it’s even bad to start with.  We are a spoiled spoiled society.  I hope I can get better at appreciating the life I have.  Anyways, check it out… “What I’ve Done” by Linkin Park.
